School days:

So I was pretty wild child…I like to think my elementary years calmed me down a bit…you can be the judge!
  • Kindergarten teacher…Mrs. Gregerson.
  • Thinking we were funny to trade seats in class thinking she would get confused at who was who…she didn’t.
  • I remember going to Grandma Stockings for family parties and hiding in my cousins car thinking their parents didn’t notice we were in the back as they were driving home…sometimes I really don’t think they knew!
  •  Holli was born…I wasn’t the baby!
  • I hated Holli…not anymore. She is now the coolest baby sister ever!
  •  First grade: Mrs. Tominaga…Still my favorite teacher to this day!
  •  Organizing Mrs. Tominaga’s desk.
  • Telling Mrs. Tominaga that my Grandma Stocking was a backup singer for Brittany Spears.
  • Ghost badgers in the canals.
  • Second grade: Mrs. Tominaga
  • Inviting Mrs. Tominaga to lunch with my mom. We went to Wendy’s and had a nice visit.
  • I was baptized.
  • Third grade: Mrs. Young
  • Got to change playgrounds from the rocky side to the grassy side…I was a big kid.
  • Started 4-h, Dairy Heifers even to this day…
  • Having boat races with bottle caps with my Browning cousins while we were supposed to be walking cows.
  • Fourth Grade: Mrs. Mathews
  •  Chewed gum in class, got lots of warnings for a citation
  • Best friends with the twins…Jaclyn and Janessa Harman
  • My cat took moved her kittens inside our house behind our bathtub…still to this day have no idea how she did that. We had to cut a hole in the wall to get them out.
  •  Moved to the “old house” On 1600 N.
  •  Fifth grade: Mrs. Stewart
  •  Faked the need for glasses
  • Got an F on my history report…not cool!

Great memories. I went to Acequia Elementary School when I was there it was home of the Indians, today they are Acequia Eagles…so lame! None the less I will always be an Acequia Indian who spent twenty dollars at a candy sale one time…I was in major trouble with lots of sugar. Life was still great and simple. My best friends had a swimming pool so that is where I spent a majority of my summers but none the less I have a pretty good argument that I had the best childhood!

Awkward Middle School years: We all have them, those awkward years we want to forget! Well here are mine…why am I doing this!
  •  I talked to all of my friends on MSN
  • I had my first boyfriend…all we did was pass notes to each other never   talked once.
  • Passing notes during class
  • School dances were bomb!
  • 99 the buzz was the best radio station.
  • I switched schools in the middle of my seventh grade year.
  • Played volley-ball and basketball at East and West…best time of my life!
  • Got to go into Young Women’s

I remember I was a little dramatic to say the least, what teenager isn’t? I had a tough middle school years, I never really had that one good friend I could talk to. I ended up switching schools in the middle of my seventh grade year which worked out ok. I played sports so that helped a lot, I began to come out of my shell more in the eighth grade and then my high school years were a blast!

High school days:

  • Ran for student council in 8th grade…I won and was on STUCO my entire high school career…best time of my life!
  • School dances were awesome!
  • Got my driver’s license
  • Went on my first date to the prom with Sheldon Brown in the 10th grade.
  • My family went to California and to Disneyland for the first time.
  • Student council conventions were so fun!
  • My sister Heidi went on a mission.
  • I had braces…awful!
  • High school games, and going to Burger’s ECT after.
  • Mowing my grandma Browning’s lawn every summer.

High school was really a fun time! I had lots of friends, and was really involved with the school. I enjoyed going to school, and to seminary. I loved going to school and just laughing with my friends and not caring about what was going on. High school was such a carefree time, I had fun memories and I am so glad I did the things I did.

Beginning of my College days:

  • One of my best friends passed away…Grandma Browning will always be missed.
  • Moved to BYU-I.
  • Next door neighbors with my sister Heidi…wished I would have lived with her.
  • Took my first college classes…realized my major: Elementary Education.
  •  Second semester lived with my sister Heidi…loved it!
  • Changed my major to Secondary Education; English emphasis.
  • Heidi got married.
  •  Erica went on a mission to South Carolina!
  •  Successfully finished my first year of college.
  • Moved home and became really close to Holli.
  • Spent the summer working and saving my money for Alaska!
  • Went to Alaska…
And here we are. I am about to embark on my second year of college in a few weeks and I couldn’t be more excited! I plan to update this as more events happen in my life. Like I said before, this is a blog that is more for my posterity than for anyone. I want them to know who I was, what I was like and what my childhood was like before I ever forget. I don’t want to forget the little things that could made me who I am today!

Wow! I last updated this in 2012! It is now 2016 and I am a college graduate! It is crazy to think that it has been four years since I started this branch from my blog...and I am SO glad I did! I just read through my posts, my testimony and the purpose for this blog and I can honestly say Heavenly Father knew I needed to do this, and He knew it would not only benefit my future posterity but me too! Well just to keep up with the flow of this post I will let you in on what happened through the next four years of college!

  • Went through some rocky times with roommates. I really learned what kind of person I wanted to be and what a true friend is!
  • Decided to take a semester off of school and move to Arizona to work at a family owned bed and breakfast called Jacob Lake! I lived 45 minutes away from the Grand Canyon and two hours away from St. George. Erica came with me and it is an experience I will never forget. I really gained independence and confidence while there. Something like this is completely out of my comfort zone so the fact that I actually did it and stuck it out is amazing in and of itself! I consider it my own little mission!
  • Heidi and Kyle had a baby! Camden Austin DeVaney was born October 6th, 2014. He was born while Erica and I were working at Jacob Lake so we had to wait 6 weeks to meet him which was hard, but we made up for lost time in the upcoming semesters!
  • While Heidi taught school and Kyle went to school Erica and I babysat little Camden during the days! It was so fun to spend that time with him and really get to feel like we were a part of his life! He is going to turn two in October of 2016 and I just can't believe he is the same little baby!
  • I moved home every summer and dated a couple of boys...nothing serious but I can say with confidence and sincere gratitude that Heavenly Father is in control and did not let me settle for less than I deserve! Always remember that!
  • Erica and I were roommates for every semester that we were in Rexburg together! Some of the best times of my life. There honestly is nothing like family, and Erica is without a doubt my best friend!
  • Interviewed for student teaching placements and was asked to student teach in Ogden, Utah. I was so mad about this at first because of how "ghetto" I thought Ogden was, but thankfully I was in a nice part in a really nice school! Again, Heavenly Father is in control!
  • Student taught from January 2016-April 2016. One of the hardest experiences of my life, but also one of the most rewarding experiences! I struggled a lot with who I was placed with and I really felt like I was doing a terrible job based on her attitude towards me. Heavenly Father sent some great angels my way though to boost me up and I really learned to rely on the Lord and recognize His love everyday!
  • Graduated with a bachelors degree in English Education! So proud and feel so accomplished!
It took me nine semesters so about 4 and 1/2 years to earn my degree, but when I think about how much I learned and grew as a person I feel like there is no way that much growth can happen in four years!  College gives you experiences you will never forget! You learn a lot about yourself and a lot about the love our Heavenly Father has for us! Looking back tonight at what I wrote four years ago is proof to me that Heavenly Father is there! I am in tears reading my innocent yet powerful testimony at nineteen years old and realizing how much more I could add and testify of now at 23! I grew so much through college and I had so many faith promoting and good experiences that have shaped me into the person I am today! I know I have a lot more growing to do, but I do not doubt that the Lord will be with me every step of the way!

"Life is like a bicycle, to keep your balance you MUST keep moving." –Albert Einstein

Here we go! Another three years have passed, and I have found myself doing things I never envisioned doing, but I am loving every moment!

2016-2017:

  • Accepted a job teaching 6th and 7th grade language arts in Twin Falls, Idaho at Robert Stuart Middle School! Twin Falls is about 30 minutes from my parent's home in Paul, and I feel so blessed to be close to them!
  • Erica accepted a job teaching at the same school! Erica has gotten me through a lot! She is my adventure buddy, my lunch buddy, and everything in between!
  • I was what you called a traveling teacher. The school was so over-populated that they didn't have enough classrooms for teachers to teach in. I was one of the lucky few who got a cart and a list of classrooms to bounce around to throughout the day. Luckily, I worked with some amazing and patient people who didn't mind me taking over their classroom for their prep!
  • My dad, Erica, Holli and I went on a trip to San Fransisco! Such a fun trip!
  • Heidi and Kyle had another little baby boy! Aiden Kyle DeVaney was born February 2nd, 2017. He had so much dark hair!

  • SURVIVED MY 1ST YEAR TEACHING!
  • Holli graduated high school!
    • Went to Tim McGraw and Faith Hill concert to celebrate with Heidi, Holli, and Erica!
  • Taught summer school and enjoyed a summer full of trips to the cabin, 4-wheeler rides, and paddle boarding!

2017-2018:

  • Got my own classroom!
  • Started teaching 6th grade language arts 1/2 time and Bear Essentials 1/2 time. Bear Essentials is a transitions class for 6th graders to help adjust them to middle school. We focus a lot on organization, study skills, and how to learn! It is such a fun class to teach!
  • Shawna, Holli, Erica and I went to the Disneyland Halloween party! It was so fun! The longest we had to wait in line for a ride was maybe 5 minutes!
  • Erica and I went on our first international trip! We traveled to London and Copenhagen with some really good friends! The plane ride was miserable, but the trip was amazing!
  • Focused a lot on my health and developed a love for exercising!
  • Summer we took a spontaneous trip to the Bahamas with Erica, Keona, Shawna and Shawna's friend Andriel! Pretty amazing!
  • Holli left on a mission to Lubbock, Texas in June 2018!
  • Camden and Aiden are the life of every party!
